My Review of "Macbeth" starring Captain Picard
Yeah, Patrick Stewart was pretty kick-ass in this Brit touring production at BAM. However, my date and I both kind of lost that tingly feeling when the witches starting rapping - but what can you do?
One time I said "Macbeth" in passing while I was backstage during the run of a play in Philadelphia. I was still in college, actually. And one of the older actors heard me and FREAKED out. He told me I had to go outside and do some kind of incantation, "angels and ministers of grace defend us..." spin around three times, and spit, then knock three times and ask to be let back in. I was like, "Craig, I can’t go outside. The whole audience is out there. It’s intermission." He told me to go in the bathroom and do it.
So I did it.
The show might have just narrowly avoided falling victim to the "Macbeth" theater curse, but a big old sandbag sure as hell fell on my dignity that night.
